Fix You draws its inspiration from the Japanese art of kintsugi—the practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold. Rather than hiding the fractures, kintsugi elevates them, transforming damage into beauty and vulnerability into strength. This show brings that philosophy to life through music, movement, and an emotional arc that mirrors the process of breaking, mending, and emerging renewed.
The production opens with a vessel—symbolic of the self—intact yet fragile. As pressures mount, cracks appear: harmonies splinter, rhythms fracture, and the ensemble reflects the moment when life’s weight becomes too much to bear. But in this space of rupture, the show turns toward restoration. Musical lines begin to rejoin, textures warm, and golden threads of sound emerge, representing the careful, patient work of repair.
Throughout the performance, the ensemble traces the path from hurt to healing. Each “fracture” becomes an opportunity for transformation; each reassembled fragment gains strength and brilliance. Just as kintsugi artisans highlight every repaired seam, the show celebrates the parts of ourselves reshaped by challenge—proof that resilience does not erase the past, but honors it.
In its final movement, Fix You reveals a fully restored vessel, now veined with gold and more beautiful for having been broken. The ensemble stands not as something returned to its original state, but as something wiser, stronger, and uniquely whole. This is a story of repair as rebirth—an affirmation that our greatest value often emerges from the places where we once felt most fragile.
